Save robots' time is equal to add more chance to be indexed.
The amount of indexing is also an important factor to impact SEO.

A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include full information of every URL. You can add Sitemap directly from WordPress Yoast Plugin

"A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site. It allows webmasters to include additional information about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site. This allows search engines to crawl the site more intelligently."(according to Wikipedia)

Also, the old sitemap html page also make magic for robots.
It seems Google still will crawl the site, so map for internal links with anchor text is also important.
After all, Sitemap xml can not provide the structure of a site, but html map with anchor text may play the tricks.

I definitely agree that a sitemap is useful. It can possibly help search engine to index all pages on a site.

A site map can direct you to the exact location of a building structure of a certain company. I hope this helped.

Sitemap is simply the map of the site or a single page that shows the structure of the website and links. Using it has many benefits, not only easier navigation and better visibility by search engines. It offers the opportunity to inform search engines immediately about any changes on the site. Through this, search engines will index your changed pages compared to when you don't have a sitemap.
